Weekend in Seoul (clubbing and the Namdaemun market)

Sooouu... Where to start^^' Really, again lots of things happened.. we were only supposed to go clubbing on Friday and then possibly just hang out on saturday and sunday because we needed to save money..BUT we ended up on going to hongdae two days in a row..^^'

Well, let's try putting it together a little~ So:
- on Friday we were clubbing^^ visited about four bars/clubs all together (not many~) which of we are gonna tell you more when we get there :)) Important information: The seoul metro stops working about 1am (depending on the station) and starts to work again 5.20am (at hongdae that is, and again depending on the station).
- on Saturday we were on a get-together at Han river~ and afterwards again at hongdae for more clubbing~ this time not so much drinking and definately no soju XD
on Sunday found the Namdaemun market~ Actually it was right next to our guesthouse ^^'

Clubbing at Hongdae:
First.. we went to the coffee brown for a cup of coffee and to wait that the real night life would began~ Talked about couple of hours before changed to the 92ga (korean style restaurant) to eat (again) samgyupsal <3 and to drink soju (and really, this is a great place to start the evening with soju~~!) The place was packed  and we needed to wait a little before getting a table~ But luckily in Korea (and Japan) there are benchs right next to the door for people to sit on while lining up so you don't have to stand while waiting~

There are some nice and funny people working~^^'

Waiting~ a little bored^^'

Ordered a little more than last time~ a beef bulgogi (meaning the rolls on the plate) were a bit hard to cook, but tasted good :)

The soju-coke mix: coke in the bottom and the soju on top through a paper/napkin~ (by annika)

...and this is the point where i lost all the text i had writen so far, so i apologize if from this point onwards the text is a little... rushing and full of spelling mistakes^^' but here we go again.. :)

Clubs we visited:
- TRON: cost 10,000 won to get in. PLUS: music was good (RnB + techno) and the place was not too crowded. Also everyone were dancing~ MINUS: in the bar there was only beer and so on, no coctails.

- NB2: cost 15,000 won to get in (valid also in HARLEM and NB1). PLUS: music was very good (old and new RnB), always lots of people and you get one drink for free (the drinks weren't that expensive anyways though). MINUS: really, really, REALLY crowded!!! And meaning ALWAYS!! I have never been in a place that would be as crowded! You could hardly move your arms in the crowd and that wasn't even on the dancefloor..! I would not recommend the place, though if you want to try it out.. Well, it's your choice! ^^' BUT I'm gonna say "I told you so!" afterwards~!

- NB1: free (if you have the bracelet from HARLEM or NB2). PLUS: not so many people, the music quite the same as in NB2 (also the drinks). MINUS: really, NOT so many people..^^' if you want space, then you're gonna like it..otherwise..^^'

- CD (Coctail Design): don't know the fee (quite expensive compared to the other ones~). PLUS: the drinks are THE BEST, the music is THE BEST (old and new RnB + KPOP songs), and the staff is well-dressed (and there must be a code for their looks too^^'). Also in the first part of the evening/night it's kind of a coctail-bar, but in the second part of the night there will also be a dancefloor for those who want to dance~ MINUS: in the wons the coctail-prices are a little bit expensive and you will have to line up to get in (but its worth it~ ).

The get-together at hab river:

Souu.. First of all, how did we know about the event? There are many groups and pages in facebook and also on the internet that will tell you where and when there is going to be a meet up for foreigners to get to know the korean people or places~ usually ot clubbing or hanging out^^
For example:
www.meetup.com where you can choose the city from all over the world and look for the meet-ups
- on facebook: the seoul english party 서을 영어 파티 and their website: www.seoulenglishparty.com
The events are usually free and you wont have to inform of your coming, though it would be polite to do so~

Night view of the han river~ sorry, it's a little dark^^'

So what we did then? There wasn't really anything planned, just hanging out by the han river (there were LOTS of other groups too! :D) chatting ang eating snacks~ after that some of us left home (because they lived outside the city central and the trains would stop working soon~) and the rest of us headed to hongdae^^ We had amazing people with us so it was easy to travel by taxi (the driving in seoul is NOT as hectic and hard to deal with as it would be expected, really!) and it only cost about 4,700 won (so per person about 1,200 won) from yeouinaru metro station to hongdae (by metro it would have taken 20-30 minutes~ with two metro-line changes).

Inside of the CD coctail bar~

After we arrived at hongdae and we were not so sure were to go, we decided to go to the CD (Coctail Design) club/coctail bar, because one of us was working there as a photographer~^^ What that meant, wasnt so clear to us then (meaning why would we go there) but when we arrived... Well<3 Firstly we got straight pass through the lineup and to the table with not much waiting (and also for free! O.o) and soon after, we got to order two drinks per person (again for free~ O.o) from the coctail menu <3 We felt so blessed~! Unfortunately the guy that worked there had to go help his boss with all the clients, so we didn't get to thank him properly~ but the night was fun and we'll definitely go there again if we happen to go to hongdae~! :)

The kiwi mojito <3

The Namdaemun market:
From the neighborhood our our guesthouse~

In the Starbucks near our guesthouse~

Me, very fit and active :D

Lastly we visited the Namdaemun market on sunday~ Actually we were just walking around the neighborhood area of our guesthouse, but ended up finding the namdaemun market :D Compared to the myeongdong, namdaemun was a little bit cheaper and much smaller, but i liked the place <3 Also some stores were already closing when we got there (about 7ish~).. though yes, there are also the street-food shops in namdaemun, that will be open till the late night~ we'll definitely go check them next time^^

The things that are sold EVERYWHERE in Seoul... Shoes, glasses, kpop stuff and phone casings!

Definitely trying these out next time~^^

Us, eating a melon~~ really good and fresh snack :))

Now i'm gonna go to bed, because the time is already past midnight~^^' Tomorrow we are maybe going to the Namsan tower, depending on the weather. :) but we'll see then~

All the best,
Laura
