The New Year's Day 2016 - Happy New Year 2016!!

Cheonggyecheon stream wishes you "Happy New Year 2016!" ^^

We had been running around basically ever since we arrived to Seoul three days ago so no wonder after the oh-so-fun-night with this awesome group <3 all of us were really tired and slept through the whole morning until the sun was already up and shining.....well actually hiding 'cause the day started as really cloudy~ Me and Annika woke up first around 2 pm^^' and headed to eat late-breakfast/early-dinner at the nearby Coffine Gurunaru (right next to Ewha [Woman's University] Station, 이대역). I came prepared to the cafe (with a book~) because we didn't know exactly how long we were gonna be there chilling, waiting for Iida and Eeva. Although~~ I really like chilling in the cafes (haha actually I'm in a cafe at this very moment~)^^

Our breakfast<3 sandwiches, honey toast bread and two coffees~

Ida came around ~ 4 pm and Eeva a little bit later around ~5 pm XD So the whole day-time kinda went in the cafe eating, reading and chilling^^ All in all it was quite a good day for a 1st Day of the Year<3

In the Coffine Gurunaru chilling and reading a book~

Around 6 pm Eeva left to see her friend and the three of us were thinking of heading to the Gwanghwamun gate and the Gyeongbokgung palace because the illuminations at night-time sounded pretty good~ Sadly, the palace was closed around 5 pm so we didn't make it but the Cheonggyecheon stream
was really pretty so instead of the palace (well, we DID visit the gate after all~) we decided to stroll around the stream.

Cheonggyecheon stream's illuminations

More illuminations, they very really pretty<3 The Stream runs just under "the sea of blue light"~

The Gwanghwamun square and the statue of the King Sejong (the Great)

Annika messing around (puuhastelee:D).. too bad the camera didn't keep up with her^^'

Because we had too much time in our hands [in the sense of Korean-style time-concept the evening hadn't even started yet;)] we headed to the Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을, go straight north from the main streets of Insadong, cross the crossroad and keep on following the main street~ and you'll find yourself at the streets of hanok village^^).

We wondered around the alleys for some time and finally got so hungry we decided to find a restaurant, to eat... chicken<3 (Didn't drink beer though^^' >> like a proper Korean style Chicken&Beer (치맥))

chicken with tomato, meat, cheese and.... whip cream(?!) :D Korean style, ay~

Our drinks~ (yes the place was called Chirchir [치르치르]) (©amihellou)

Near the stream there is this "little hongdae"-area which I really like<3

I'm here~~

We sent our wishes for the next year and thanks for the previous <3

Beautiful cheonggyecheon stream <3

After walking back with our stomachs full of chicken and the time..being too much^^' We decided to go to a nearby cafe, which was in a walking distance from our hostel. Because hey, we hadn't had enough coffee for today;) Eeva also joined us~~ Aaaand, that was all for the day^^

The Seoul night-view with its buildings is always so pretty<3 (Samsung Jong-Ro Tower and Bosingak (보신각) bell pavilion) (©amihellou)

All the best,
Laura

Recommendation of the Day:
- try the Coffine Gurunaru, I recommend the "Honey Butter Smoothie" & "Sangria Red"(Yes, you can also get alcohol drinks from here~) and of course the ORIGINAL "Honey Butter Bread Origin" >> You can also get it in HALF if you think you're not able to eat it all by yourself... for us, one whole honey bread was enough for two so~ ^^'
- If you happen to be in Korea at the time of the New Year, try sending your wishes for the next year(or thanks for the previous)~ At least in the Cheonggyecheon stream they have this tent were you can buy the parts for the lantern (only 3.000 won, around 2.50 euros) and then write anything you want in it, put it together and send it down the stream~

Hyvää Uutta Vuotta 2016!<3
새해 복 많이 받으세요!!
