Busan awaits (부산에) : 3.1.2016

We didn't have anything big planned for the day^^ other than the train-ride to Busan, because we weren't sure about how much time exactly, everything would take. So we checked out pretty early in a sense of our train-schedule and headed to the Seoul station to eat lunch while we waited for the train to arrive~ (And BTW the ticket officers speak pretty good English so if you have to buy a ticket at the station, you can go to the ticket office just fine~ though remember to look for the signs that say "entrance" (입구 or 들어가는 곳) and "exit" (출구 or 나가는 곳) so you know where to line^^ an the tickets office is marked as "표 사는 곳"~)

My lunch at the Seoul station - Bibimbap in a stone bowl (돌비빔밥) (recommended!^^)

Train-ride took about 3 hours with the bullet train. The train itself was a bit older than the ones we have in Finland for long-distance travels, but still nice~Time went by pretty fast and because me and Eeva had gotten our tickets from the University of Pusan and Annika and Ida bought theirs on their own we didn't sit so close to each other but it didn't matter~ (©amihellou)

The day turned into the evening faster than I though~ (©amihellou)

When we got to the Busan station there was a person waiting for me and Eeva already from the University of Pusan, so we said goodbyes to Annika and Ida who went on their own way to look for the hostel and the three of us headed to the university's campus where our hotel(?) was located at.

Hotel room was really amazing O.o It was located right next to the campus (like literally next to the border of the campus!) But because it was already really dark we didn't get to see much of the campus^^' too bad~

We thought we would get one room for the two of us, but instead we got our own rooms, right next to each other..and the rooms were SO big too.. well~ now that I think about it, the rooms were pretty normal sizes (if u'd compare to the ones in Finland or more expensive hotels) but we were used to staying in the small hostel-rooms while on this trip, so it was really a pleasant surprise for us^^

All the best,
Laura

Recommendation of The Day:
- try the Bibimbap in a stone bowl (돌비빔밥)
- the train is the most convenient way to travel in korea but the prices are quite expensive.. well for korean ticket prices~ but compared to the buses I'd still recommend the train (also compared to the planes~). (Just so you guys know: it costs around 60 000 won so around 45-50 euros)

Problem of The Day:

(Is it Busan or Pusan?)

the NAME of the city of Busan is really problematic for me, because when you translate it straight from the korean hangul-writing (부산) it starts with B (=ㅂ and not P =ㅍ) so it should be translated into >> Busan. Also in the internet (like Wikipedia for example~) it's written with the letter "B". BUT apparently the University of Pusan writes it's name with the letter "P", just like most of the korean (at least those that I know, don't want to generalize too much but~) like to say and write the name with "P" when they are using English.
So... in the end I came to the conclusion that it doesn't really matter how you use it, cause everyone still understands you~ and for me, I use the name "Busan" in general, but when talked about the University of Pusan~ well, I use "Pusan"^^)
